We are an active group of almost 500 members meeting bi-monthly to share our love of quilting by learning from internationally known experts through lectures and workshops, meeting in quilting bees, sharing our knowledge and skills and caring for our community through service projects. Please browse our website to learn more about who we are, what we do and how you can become involved.
Cheryl works in the comic book industry by day and is a fiber artist by night. She is fascinated by the intersection of technology and textiles. Juxtaposing heirloom techniques in modern quilts is part of her design aesthetic.
Cheryl creates original and contemporary designs for her art quilts. Her signature is using electronic components, as well as fusibles, yarns, jewels, sequins, beads, and various other media to embellish her work.
Her quilts are all pieced, appliqued, and quilted by machine, but Cheryl's recent work has incorporated many traditional heirloom fabric manipulation techniques. Cheryl's themes and subjects vary, from simple shapes, abstracts, to realistic interpretations of still lifes and portraits. Much of her work is small, often under 8 inches square. Recent work incorporates LEDs, microprocessors, and other electronic components to make her fiber art and quilts light up.
Cheryl is influenced by her other hobbies and interests, including comic books, science fiction, Japanese manga, anime and culture, and pop culture. You can buy Cheryl's work and e-textile supplies in her Etsy Shop .
There are no classes offered in November.
WMQG has supported Santa Claus Girls for many years with our generous donation of baby dolls and doll quilts for distribution to children. This is an enormous part of the program, as we provide an average of 500 dolls. Please bring your donations of dolls, doll quilts, and some people even bring knit hats and mittens for the children as well. You may pick up a donation slip at the November event when you drop off your donation. If you don't have time to make a quilt, but can buy a doll, please do! We often have extra quilts ready to pair up with a doll.
