July Summer Event 2010

Summer Event Fun July 27th
Small Quilt Viewer’s Choice Contest – Stitch-In – Strip Bingo – Garage Sale!!

Our Guild meeting in July always takes on a different feeling as we break out of our usual format, foregoing a speaker for a more relaxed atmosphere with an earlier start time – 6 pm. You are welcome to bring a friend at no cost.

First – this is a great time to bring your donation for the Small Quilt Auction, held as part of Quilts on the Grand 2010. Since theses donated beauties are not eligible for ribbons, we have created our own little contest for little quilts! These quilts, up to 36” per side, will be sold via silent auction at the show. Nancy Roelfsema has donated a beautiful pair of Gingher scissors for the winner! Check out Forms for the Small Quilt Auction donation form.

Next – we eat at this event. If your last name begins in A-L, please bring an appetizer; M-Z, please bring dessert! We will have bottled water, plates and utensils.

Game lovers – bring your 2.5”, width of fabric strips, to play Strip Bingo! Ante in with a strip of fabric for the possibility of winning many more.

Have items to sell? Bring a table and pay $5 for a spot to set up and sell sewing related items. Reserve a spot by contacting Sandy DeCarlo, sldecarlo@comcast.net, 616-669-2256.

Looking for great books? Bobbi sells some of our library books at a table too!

And finally, we are having a Stitch-In!! We will have 20 quilt kits available to make baby quilts as part of a big project for UCOM. They have a goal of making 100 baskets with quilts for new mothers in need. This is not intended to replace neonatal quilts. Just an extra project if you want to help. Or, bring your own project. We will have a couple irons and ironing boards; bring your machine and supplies.

See you there!!
