November Lecture – Coleen Merte “Journey Into Pattern Design”
November 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
PLUS A TALK ABOUT COLLEEN’S MICHIGAN-INSPIRED QUILT BOOK!
Coleen found quilting to be great stress relief from her fulltime job as a nurse. She began designing her own patterns in 2011, and created her company, Northwater Quilt Designs. Since then, Coleen has been selling her patterns at quilt shows and quilt shops across the country. She has been published in quilt magazines, and has been speaking and teaching at quilt guilds.
Most of Coleen’s designs start with an antique block which she alters in order to create a contemporary look. She loves the rich heritage of our antique quilts, but is excited about taking them forward into future trends. She will take us along through her journey as a quilt designer over the years.
PLUS Coleen will talk to us about her Michigan-Inspired quilt book “Michigan Road Trip”, telling us about how the state of Michigan inspired each original quilt design in the book.
