This year’s challenge Theme is: “Water Surrounding our World”
Challenge Quilts are due: Friday March 1 & Saturday March 2, 2024 at Calvary Christian
Reformed Church from 9am-2pm.
At the March 26 2024 Guild meeting we will display the quilts that have been entered. Quilts will be judged by two qualified quilt experts. The Eight winning quilts will be submitted to AQS. If they are accepted by the AQS 2024 Ultimate Quilt Challenge as a group, the quilts will hang in the August 2024 AQS show in August (2024) in Grand Rapids.

The rules are as follows:
Subject matter and Focal point:
1. Choose a subject using the theme “Water Surrounding our World.”
2. You will be given six Kona fabrics to choose from. Your quilt must feature at least three
or more of these fabrics. You may add additional colors/fabrics of your choice.
3. This quilt may be Pieced or Appliqued. Foundation Paper Piecing, English Paper Piecing,
Applique or Raw Edge Applique quilts are all acceptable.
4. The entry can be Traditional, Modern, or Art quilt. They can be serious or whimsical.  Size: 30″W x 40″H

Finished quilt: Must consist of three layers and be closed along the edges. Irregular borders must be within the
30”x40” vertical rectangle.
Hanging Sleeve: Must be at the top of the quilt back using the AQS guidelines.
Label: Must be on a bottom corner in the back and include the Guild and challenge names as well as your name, a brief description, and the date completed.

Artist Statement is required at drop off.
Some suggestions are: Oceans, lakes, rivers, water falls, rain, or how water is used in everyday life.
It can be a modern rendition that just reminds you of water and its importance in the world. Use your imagination!
