Neonatal Quilts

Guild members make and donate baby quilts to the Neonatal Unit at Spectrum Hospital - Downtown.  These quilts may be made individually or by groups.  The crib-sized quilts are collected at each March meeting and then given to the Neonatal Unit for distribution throughout the year to at-risk newborns.

We collected over 400 quilts at our March meeting - 1/3 of our goal of 1,200 quilts per year!  Why that many?  Because that many babies come to Spectrum Hospitals' NICU unit each year.

We cut kits for neonatal quilts, and have them available at each meeting.  You can help cut kits at Queen Bee Quilt Shoppe on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

If you would like to donate quilts at other times throughout the year, please contact Sue Botma .

Minimum size is 36"/side, Maximum is 42" - the isolettes have increased in size!

This is a small sampling of the quilts collected at our meetings.  The quilts are counted and bagged up for transportation to Spectrum Hospitals' NICU unit.

The Social Workers in the NICU keep a quilt closet full of these treasures to share with families who find themselves with a baby admitted in the unit.

Each bag holds a set number of quilts to help our volunteers track how many beautiful quilts you have donated.

Thank you!!!

The West Michigan Quilters' Guild meets bi-monthly on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
